Allis Chalmers
Allis Chalmers are well known for the production of their distinctively coloured orange tractors. Based at Milwaukee in the USA, the company's machines gained popularity in the UK and were eventually assembled in this country at Toton near Southampton and Essendine in Lincolnshire,
Many examples of Allis Chalmers products have survived through to preservation enabling us to savour the machines that cemented the reputation of the American manufacturer.
We see a green livened 18-30 before passing onto the "U" with the eventually adopted orange colour scheme. The well known ubiquitous "model B" features strongly whilst "WC", VF. "A", "C", "G", D270, D272 and ED4O models are also studied In addition to wheeled tractors, Allis Chalmers also produced crawlers, some examples of which are also featured.
Ferguson
Harry Ferguson and his development of the TE2O - "The Little Grey Fergie" - made a significant impression on the tractor manufacturing industry. The introduction of the three-point linkage was no less revolutionary and its principles exist on machines produced ever since.
This video discusses Harry Ferguson's initial Iinks with David Brown prior to the eventually acrimonious association with Henry Ford. The Ferguson models developed after the Ford chapter are then examined before moving on to the Massey Ferguson era. A vast variety of implements were supplied to work with Ferguson machines and some of these can be seen with the tractors, which are captured at events across the UK
