ROAD WORKS AHEAD

Today's roads are almost taken for granted, but nevertheless they are an integral part of the nations transport network and are very important for it's continued prosperity. From the very early days of man, roads have existed in some form with early examples being mere trodden tracks which were regularly used to travel on foot between destinations. Over the years the design and construction of roads has progressed to suit the modes of transport in use at the time. In this video we look at some of the methods used to construct roads, over the last century and the machinery employed. This is all possible due to the advent of the preservation movement which has enabled the survival of a multitude of road rollers and ancillary equipment. Road making demonstrations are regularly seen on today's rallyfields and provide an insight into construction methods.
