shapes and sizes and built by a variety of manufacturers appear on the rallyfield and on the road during the 1999 season.

• SURE AS THE SUN RISE This slogan was adopted by Albion in the 1920s and the lorries turned out by the company have gained affection in the hearts of enthusiasts. Eventually absorbed into the Leyland group, the name of Albion has happily lived on in preservation.

• ALL ABOARD Commercial vehicle builders like Leyland, AEC, Bristol and Bedford produced rolling chassis which were equipped with PSV bodies. Examples of coaches along with single and double decked buses are studied.

• MIGHTY IN STRENGTH The first Thornycroft road vehicle, a steamer, appeared in 1896. the Thornycroft 'Mighty Antar' was introduced a lot later in the company's history and several saw military service. Three examples of these magnficent machines are shown.

• FIRE AWAY Fire service vehicles are an essential part of life and have evolved over the years from early horse drawn appliances. The familiar red fire engines of today date back many years and preserved examples are seen along with a selection of Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) vehicles.

• TO THE RESCUE Examples of recovery vehicles ranging from those used to tow away the family car to those built to rescue the heavy
commercials of yesteryear are seen.

• LIGHT MOVER Small delivery vans and pick-ups used by traders, often based on car designs, were built by the likes of Austin, Morris and Ford. All three makes are represented, the oldest examples of which date back to the 1920s.

• CALLED TO SERVICE Commercial vehicles of all sizes were used in large numbers by the armed forces. Several went on to a second user after being demobbed by the military and some have survived from the past into preservation. A selection of such vehicles are seen wearing full uniform.

• PULLING THEIR WEIGHT To round off this second volume there's another helping of heavy metal with the 'Big Boys' being put through their paces.
