The original NYMR route started at Whitby and ran through to Malton Junction. The southern section from Pickering to Malton has long since passed into history - or has it? There are moves afoot to re-open the line through to Malton and this is constantly in the news - a supermarket group wishing to build across the original formation just south of Pickering station, which if approved, could end any reasonable hope of an early return to Malton Junction. Our volume covers the entire route and is written by John Hunt who is a driver on the NYMR. He has drawn on past and present photographs to produce a nostalgic pictorial record of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which will prove irresistible to railway enthusiasts, visitors, historians and locals alike.
Covering the preserved section from Grosmont to Pickering, other locations featured include:
Whitby * Goathland * Newtondale * Levisham * Malton
