Oi Jimmy Knacker is a vivid memoir of Ken Kimberley's childhood and youth in the prewar East End of London, illustrated in full colour by Ken's own beautiful paintings and delightful pen-and-ink sketches and comparative photographs.

His views of daily life recall a time when Britainís cities appeared to be friendlier places. He has chosen to focus on over 40 incidents or events which are still strong in his memory, each illustrated by an astonishingly detailed watercolour painting which draws you immediately into that magical childhood world.

The story behind the picture is then related on the facing page, interspersed with charming smaller illustrations. The result is a book which truly captures the character, life and colour of the old East End.
