Roger Siviter takes us on a 'past and present' photographic tour of the railways of Warwickshire, including Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield, historically part of the county. Warwickshire was mainly the home of the old Great Western Railway and the LMS, and featured trunk routes that carried crack expresses, suburban lines into Birmingham and branch lines threading their way through the countryside. Each pair of photographs, showing a period railway scene paired with a shot of the same location today, is accompanied by helpful captions providing details about the locomotives and rolling stock, people and landscapes, towns and villages. The comparisons will intrigue railway enthusiasts, visitors and locals alike. Locations include * Birmingham * Stratford-upon-Avon * Warwick * Leamington Spa * Coventry * Rugby * Kenilworth * Water Orton * Atherstone * Solihull * Sutton Coldfield * Fenny Compton * Shipston-on-Stour * Hampton-in-Arden
